My frustration comes from STILL seeing , so many products in stores (including so-called health stores) selling products with harmful ingredients. Yet, I have known about this problem for over a decade. I am sure, the manufacturers know about the dangers of different poisons sneaked in each and every product on the market. For if it is not grid for exorbitant monetary gains at the expense of the healthy of the consumer, then there must be another hidden agenda. . Apparently what they care about is their bottom line; while we, consumers suffer from the consumption of such contaminated products. To make matters worse, I see people buying these products without any hesitation. When I see this, I feel like screaming! So, this is my way of screaming. Please, read the ingredients before you purchase any product, no matter where you are getting it from. Check the labels on: mouthwashes, toothpastes, shampoos, conditioners, shaving gels/creams, lotions, deodorants, shower bars/gels, bubble bath, nail polish, nail polish remover, children’s products, feminine products and color cosmetics.
Some of the potentially harmful ingredients include: dioxin, triclosan, phthalates, benzoyl peroxide, PEG (polyethylene), DEA/ TEA (triethanolamine) and MEA, FD&C Red 40 &Pigments, sodium fluoride, parabens,(methyl, butyl, ethyl, propyl), sodium laurel sulfate (SLS), sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), avobenzone, benzphennone, ethoxycinnamate, PABA, aluminum, butane, propane, talc (talcum powder), alcohol, favoring, toluene, glycerin, mineral oil/petrolatum and fragrance (undefined mixtures); just to name a few. Note: some of these poisons are in food like, ice cream and baked goods. For more detailed information on what each ingredient causes, go to www.antiagingchoices.com/
However, their products contain soy. Personally, I avoid soy like a plague because it’s very controversial and I know at least three people it has adversely affected, including myself. I will elaborate on it next time.
I hope you will come back to read about alternatives to these chemicals. God bless.
The change in my lifestyle and my health began the day I met a lady who met my daughter at a business meeting. This lady called me and asked if she could come to my house and show me what she had learned regarding water and we agreed for her to meet me the next day. At that point, I had tried some store bought water systems, which did not do a very good job in removing all the contaminants from the tap water I was drinking because I could still smell a hint of chlorine. I had as a result moved on to using bottled water. I just didn’t want to drink the tap water because of the smell. And, although I was buying the bottled water, I didn’t drink much of it and didn’t cook with it; so I was cooking with whatever contaminants that were in the water. It would have been too costly to cook with bottled water. Most of the time I was drinking a lot of sodas and all sorts of soft drinks – which I found out later that these drinks and the kind of food I was eating were contributing to my health problems.
I sometimes feel guilty because I was sharing all these harmful habits with my family; hence my determination to try to reverse the damage. When this lady came, she showed me the difference between my water and hers, by performing a test what she called a strength test. I was amazed at what a difference in physical strength this filtered tap water made in comparison to the bottled water. To top it all off the taste between the two types of water was night and day. Her filtered water tasted like the water I used to drink decades ago. It reminded me of well water, clean and smooth. With this new type of filtration system for my tap water, I could easily give up the sodas and sugar in my tea. I could drink more water, cook with it and bathe/shower with it. I also discovered that our bodies take in a lot of impurities and toxins through our bodies. Although the initial purchase of the water system was high, I found out that in a year it was less expensive than the bottled water; not to mention saving my back from lifting those bottles! This water made a big difference in my health. Changing the type of water I was drinking, was the first step in changing the way I took care of my body. This was a very important step especially, considering that our bodies are more than 60 per cent water.
I hope you will come back to read about what harmful ingredients are in our food, personal care products, house hold products etc. The purpose of this blog is to use it as a means to share my invaluable lessons learned over the years that are benefiting my health and which, with certainty, will benefit your health as well; if you implement them.
If anyone is interested in finding out about what type of water filtration system I use feel free to drop me an e-mail and I will send you the information. Here’s to your health!
In my previous article, I mentioned how at 52 years, I felt like a 90 year old. I had gained 30 lbs going from my previous weight of 145 pounds to 175 pounds. My waist line went from 28 to 37 inches! I was not in the best of health and was taking high blood pressure medication, had developed other health challenges, such as sleep apnea, joint pain, backache, skin conditions etc. But I want to tell you now that, at age 64 I feel like a healthy, thirty year old. One of my granddaughters just told me that I am the fastest grandmother she knows. This is the same granddaughter who always tells me that I am old because I have seven children and eleven grandchildren. Like many people one of the mistakes I was making that was affecting my health was that I was buying bottled water. At the time I did not know the danger bottled water brings to one’s health; not to mention wasting money. This being due to the fact that bottled “Spring water” was not guaranteed to be what it stated on the bottle and there was also a risk that the water was contaminated since it was not regulated. It’s been about 12 years since, and I can’t believe people are still buying bottled water. They tell me, it’s for convenience; AND CONVENIENCE IS WHAT IS KILLING US! I am expecting everybody to know what I know about water, food, skin care products, hair products, household products etc. And with all these, I have become the guinea pig of my family and friends. Therefore, most of the things I will mention, I have used them myself. I hope you will come back to read about my experience with water.
It was 1999 when my husband rushed me to the ER. I started with a headache, then a bleeding in the nose. On arrival I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. The doctors said I would have died within an hour if I didn’t get there before that! For three agonizing years I was on medication with no improvement. Weight came on and all sorts of health problems piling on one after another. I cried out to God. I was too young to be a burden to my husband and my children! I was only 52 years old and feeling like a 90 year old. God answered my prayers by directing someone to send me an audio tape:” Dead Doctors Don’t Lie”.
After listening to it and reading the book, I threw away all non stick pans, can food, stopped drinking sodas, soft drinks, threw away all my make up, lotions etc., because I found in them harmful ingredients. I started drinking purified water and cooking with it; as well as bathing with it. Since then I have been educating myself on how to use God’s natural resources as He intended us to use them, as much as I can. It’s been almost 9 years since I took a prescription drug. My husband’s migraine headaches have decreased tremendously – he sometimes gets them if he eats out. In addition to the diet I got closer to God. This has brought me great peace and joy in my life.
I hope you have enjoyed part 1 of my blog. Come back on January 3rd for part 2.
Welcome to my blog! I hope it helps you live better by eating better and watching what you put on AND in your body. I’m a big believer in eating organic and have seen what it can do for body and soul. I recently lost 16 pounds just from changing what I eat and how I cook. Ask my children…I’m always giving them new information on health, so they encouraged me to write this blog. I can now post online for everyone’s benefit. Enjoy!
